Terms & Conditions
Welcome to Platemen Steel. These Terms & Conditions outline the rules, regulations, and agreements governing the purchase, fabrication, and shipping of our brutalist iron plate and concrete furniture pieces within the Netherlands and abroad.
1. Bespoke Tolerances & Material Integrity
All items created by Platemen Steel are handmade, artisanal custom structures. Because we use raw, hot-rolled structural steel plate (S235 grade) and exposed aggregates:
- Natural surface variations, weld scale discolouration, and minor tool indentations are characteristic elements of the Brutalist aesthetic and are not classified as flaws.
- Slight differences in final dimensions (within a tolerance of ±5mm) may occur during high-temperature forging, weld cooling, and stone curing.
- Patina progression, minor surface oxidation, and concrete micro-fissures are normal behaviors of exposed architectural metals and cured elements over time.
2. Payment & Commissions
Custom commissions require a non-refundable deposit of 50% of the quoted price before metal fabrication begins at our Amsterdam foundry. The remaining 50% is due upon completion of fabrication, prior to dispatch or delivery scheduling. All quotes are issued in Euros (€) and are subject to Dutch VAT (BTW).
3. Delivery, Weight, & Installation
Our products are heavy, structural objects weighing up to several hundred kilograms. It is the buyer's sole responsibility to ensure that the delivery path, doors, elevators, and final floor surfaces can support the load capacity. Deliveries inside the Netherlands are coordinated through specialized heavy-duty transport logistics. On-site positioning and installation support must be pre-arranged.
4. Cancelation & Refund Rights
Under Article 6:230o of the Dutch Civil Code (Burgerlijk Wetboek), the statutory 14-day cooling-off period for online consumer purchases does NOT apply to goods fabricated to custom consumer specifications. As all Platemen Steel furniture is custom-made or fabricated to order, all sales are final once construction has commenced.
5. Warranty & Liability
Platemen Steel provides a 10-year structural warranty on all welded iron joints and frame integrity under normal residential or commercial use. This warranty does not cover aesthetic patina changes, mechanical scratches, or structural loading beyond the specified tolerances. To the maximum extent permitted under Dutch law, our liability is limited to the repair or replacement of the specific item.
6. Governing Law & Jurisdiction
These terms, agreements, and contracts are governed entirely by Dutch law. Any disputes or claims arising out of our transactions will be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Court of Amsterdam (Rechtbank Amsterdam), the Netherlands.
